Fire Tables Buying Guide
1) Consider the Space for Your Fire Table
Before purchasing a fire table, evaluate the area where you plan to place it. Measure the footprint of both the fire table and the surrounding seating area to ensure a comfortable and safe fit.
Important Safety Notice: Fire tables are designed for outdoor use only. Never place one inside a building, garage, enclosed room, or under a sealed overhead structure. Avoid placing the fire table near trees, shrubs, or open windows and vents leading into your home. Maintain a safe distance from overhead combustible materials, such as patio covers. Keep the surrounding area clear of flammable liquids and combustible materials like mops, rags, brooms, solvents, cleaning fluids, and gasoline. Additionally, do not block the vents near the base of the fire table, as gas buildup in case of a leak could cause serious damage.
Ventilation Considerations
Clearance Requirements:
-
Sides & Back: 48 inches (122 cm) from any structure
-
Top: 120 inches (305 cm) from overhead structures
-
Adjustable Legs: 3/4 inch (1.27 cm) clearance from the bottom of the fire table to the flooring surface for ventilation
Ventilation Considerations:
Proper ventilation is essential to prevent gas accumulation. The fire table should be placed on a solid platform, such as concrete, to allow airflow through the side or bottom vents. Vents must remain unobstructed. Use the adjustable feet to maintain the required ½-inch clearance from the bottom of the fire table to the floor.
Once you have determined your fire table's placement and measurements, you can shop for a model that fits your space.
2) Choose the Best Fuel and Ignition Option
Evaluate the most convenient and safe fuel/ignition options for your selected space.
Fuel Options:
- Natural Gas: Piped directly from your home's supply. Installation should be performed by a qualified professional who is licensed in gas piping and follows all local codes. This option ensures a continuous fuel supply but means the fire table cannot be easily moved. The burner and burner plate are pre-installed in the fire table for convenience.
-
Propane: A more flexible, DIV-friendly option similar to a standard BBQ setup. However, the propane tank (not included) will be visible and requires periodic refilling. A 10' commercial-grade connector hose is supplied. If you don't have a permanent propane gas line, the black liquid propane gas line will need to run under the base through the designated air gap. The factory has pre-connected the flex line from the gas valve to the burner, so you will only need to connect the propane line to the tank.
-
Both options include a gas key, to turn on the fuel supply before ignition.
Ignition options include:
Match Light
This lighting method is similar to a standard BBQ. Turn the gas on and light a match to ignite the flame.
Push Button Ignition
This is also very much like a BBQ. Simply turn on the gas and then click a button on the fire table (the product is battery operated) to ignite the flamehe flame.
Electronic Ignition
This comes with a remote and requires a contractor for installation. (A power supply is required and is connected to the burner prior to shipping from
our factory.) Since this is a plug in, an electrician installs this power supply to the house.
Lighting Instructions:
Before igniting, inspect the fire table and remove any accumulated leaves or debris. Turn the gas supply valve to the ON position and activate the fire feature using a switch or remote. The pilot flame should ignite within 10 seconds, followed by the main burner. If the burner does not light, turn off the fire feature and wait 3-5 minutes before retrying. This product is designed for fixed piping systems or LP small tanks (select models only) and requires a power supply.
3) Consider Materials and Design
Handcrafted from GFRC, a blend of high-quality cement, glass fibers, and resins for exceptional strength. The fire tables come in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles with hand applied finishes and unique designs and textures. This product line has the perfect combination of nature-inspired design, customizable finishes, and modern fire features to enhance your outdoor living experience. With its durable construction and eye-catching shape, it's an ideal centerpiece for any patio or backyard.
Stainless Steel Risers:
Recessed risers ensure the table is properly leveled
Lava Rock:
The table comes with tumbled lava rock for an authentic, rustic touch. It is entirely your choice whether you have lava rock, decorative stone, or glass - but it must be rated for use with fire. Media must also be½" or larger in size to prevent it from falling into gas orifices and blocking the flow of gas out of jets.
Comparing Other Materials:
Some manufacturers use cheaper alternatives such as steel, aluminum, or concrete, which may compromise safety, durability, and longevity. GFRC and stainless steel risers are superior in withstanding outdoor elements while maintaining visual appeal.
Customization & Originality: Avoid mass-produced fire tables from big-box stores just like matching outfits at a party, you don't want your fire table to look identical to your neighbor's. Our designer collections are featured in luxury hotels, resorts, and spas, ensuring high-end craftsmanship and exclusivity.
4) Warranty, Replacement Parts & Longevity
When selecting a fire table, consider the following:
-
Warranty Coverage: Does the manufacturer offer a reliable warranty?
-
Replacement Parts Availability: Are replacement components readily available if needed?
-
Longevity & Value: Does the fire table enhance your outdoor space while solving a specific problem, such as heating or ambiance?
5) Safety Considerations
Fire tables should include key safety features:
-
Adjustable Flame Control: Allows users to set the desired heat level.
-
Certified Safety: Look for CSA certification for safe operation in the USA and Canada.
-
Outdoor Use Only: Fire tables are not for indoor use and should never be used for cooking.
By considering space, fuel type, materials, and safety features, you can confidently select the perfect fire table to enhance your outdoor living experience
